As part of an initiative to bring more education to our members and the industry, WOWRA will be partnering with the Plumbing-Heating Cooling Contractors – Wisconsin Association (PHCC-WI) on two or more plumbing seminars this year.  We are pleased to collaborate on the South Central Wisconsin Plumbing and POWTS Seminars….

About the Instructors/Program

Claude Goguen, P.E., LEED AP, has more than 23 years of experience in the precast concrete and construction industry.  He holds a degree in Civil Engineering and is a licensed P.E. in Indiana He is also a LEED accredited professional.  Prior to his role in technical services with NPCA, Claude was an operations manager at a precast concrete manufacturing plant.  Claude has been involved in the decentralized onsite wastewater industry since starting with NPCA in 2008. 

Claude’s program includes the following topics/Learning Objectives: 

Quality – Essential for Efficient and Durable Precast Concrete Septic Tanks

  • Identify the crucial elements of watertight concrete
  • Describe what producers can do to help enhance durability of tanks.
  • Define the components of a quality control system

Watertight and Safe Tank Access Risers and Lids

  • Explain best practices to ensure access risers are watertight.
  • Identify the most common causes for accidental tank entry
  • Describe three options for secondary safety systems in tank access points.

Installation & Inspection of Precast Concrete Tanks

  • Describe the 3 most common mistakes made during tank installations
  • Identify 3 useful tips for tank inspection
  • Explain best practices for tank bedding and backfilling.

The program also features time to interact with vendors, our Vendor Showcase, a brief safety presentation on distracted driving, and an Industry Update by Jeff Beiriger of WOWRA and PHCC-Wisconsin.
