PURPOSE

WOWRA has developed this two-day training course for onsite professionals to learn proper techniques for conducting evaluations of existing private onsite wastewater treatment systems. This innovative two-day training class, which concludes with a certification exam, will provide much-needed uniformity around the state, helping to reduce liability for those doing POWTS evaluations. The course will include both classroom instruction and field training. Please come prepared for outside conditions. Topics covered during the course include: POWTS Evaluator ethics and requirements; evaluator/client relationship and responsibilities; evaluation procedures (data collection through final reports); and procedures for evaluating recent, documented POWTS, as well as the “unknown” POWTS.  Upon course completion and passing the exam, you will receive certification as a WOWRA Certified POWTS Evaluator.

CONTINUING EDUCATION

Approved for 13 DSPS Continuing Education Credits for the following credentials:

• Commercial Plumbing Inspector
• Journeyman Plumber
• Journey Plumber-Restricted Service
• Master Plumber
• Master Plumber-Restricted
• POWTS Inspector
• POWTS Maintainer
• Soil Tester

DNR General Septage Credits have been applied for.

INSTRUCTOR

Todd Stair is an experienced POWTS instructor who has 30 years of experience in the POWTS industry and holds licenses/certifications as a Master Plumber Restricted Service, Certified Soil Tester, and POWTS Inspector.

NOTES

General POWTS knowledge and experience is necessary.  Bring a calculator and dress for outside conditions on Thursday (10/31).
